The Colton Recreation & Parks Commission and the Colton Community Services Department have announced that nominations are now open for 2015 inductees into the Colton Sports Hall of Fame. This “Hall” was dedicated in 2006, and is located at the Frank A. Gonzales Community Center. It is a shrine honoring Colton sports heroes, past and present. Nominations for 2015 inductees will be accepted until Oct. 1. Nomination criteria and forms are available from the Colton Community Services Department, located at the Gonzales Center, 670 Colton Avenue. The Recreation & Parks Commission will consider nominations and will make selections for formal induction in early 2016. Hall of Fame inductees include Colton legends like Ken Hubbs, Jim Verdieck, The Colton Little League All Star teams from 1954 and 1956, Rich Dauer and Carl Rimbaugh, among several others. The most recent Hall of Fame inductees were the Colton Centrals/Cubs team and Roy Cook Jr., who were inducted in March. Questions regarding this program should be directed to the Colton Community Services Department at 909-370-6153.
