Last Thursday evening a group of 40 friends and supporters came to Pizzadilly Restaurant to celebrate the Fourth of July for Dr.G’s Red, White, and Blue Pizza Party. Over 40 people joined Dr.G for a fun-filled hour of delicious pizza, friendship, cake and of course, G-stories of shared-experiences and successes.

After the opening prayer, Kash Jordan led the Pledge of Allegiance and DrG then played “America” on the trumpet. Everyone came on-time with big smiles and wanted to take a picture with DrG who hosted the event dressed in his patriotic “Uncle Sam “costume.

This was an enjoyable, friendly time to relax after a long day at work, to share among friends, and to join DrG in celebrating our freedoms and our beautiful nation. The theme was Independence Day, and the colors worn by everyone in attendance were a varied blend of Red, White and Blue.

“This was an awesome gathering,” said June Hughes, who regularly attends Dr.G’s CITYTALK meetings, and who spoke to the attendees about Dr.G’s community bougainvillea garden. Another G-story speaker, Carrie Jordan, recounted several meetings she attended and the sharing of prayer concerns, especially for the homeless and the young family that lost their house in a fire.   clean-up program. Terrie Caldera, a long-time supporter shared the time Dr.G came late at night to help protect her house which was flooding due to heavy rains. Also, a very good friend Eloy Sanchez, Coordinator of the Immaculate Church Dinner Hour ministry reported that DrG not only helps distribute food, but donates to the ministry and helps with administrative affairs.

The atmosphere of this event was positive, pleasant, and certainly a wholesome community experience. “We had a great time,” said Kaitlyn Torres, a student at Colton HS who came with her friend Samantha Sandoval to help Dr.G put up decorations and serve the cake. DrG sponsored Kaitlyn as a candidate for the recent Miss Colton Teen Pageant and both of them are members of the City Youth Council, who came to support DrG and attend his event to learn more about the community.

Shirwin and Denise, the owners of Pizzadilly Restaurant, were great hosts for the event, and had everything ready at 6:05pm to allow time for DrG’s prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance and the patriotic trumpet song. “This event was great for the people to relax and celebrate,” smiled Tish Baden, who is a good friend and Dr.G’s appointee on the City Planning Commission.

The purpose of this gathering was not just to eat pizza and cake, but celebrate our nation’s Independence with DrG among good friends, good food, and good vibes. There is no formal agenda and no business. Just a bunch of friends enjoying the time together. “Everything is positive,” said Yaneth Murillo, who brought all three of her children to Dr.G’s pizza party. She continued, “They had a great time, love seeing Dr.G, and like taking pictures with him.”

For those who know Dr.G, which are many in the community, know that he maintains close contact with the residents. He is available, is always willing to help as much as possible, and…willing to “roll up his sleeves.”

Congratulations to Dr.G on another successful and positive community event.  May he continue to be blessed with good friends, supportive family, and lots of community support. He is truly a willing servant of Jesus for the benefit of our community.
