Dr.G Celebrates Independence Day with Friends

Last week a large group of friends and supporters came to Pizzadilly Restaurant to celebrate the Fourth of July for Dr.G’s Red, White, and Blue Pizza Party. Over 40 people joined Dr.G for a fun-filled hour of delicious pizza, friendship, cake and of course, G-stories of shared-experiences and successes.

After the opening prayer, Kash Jordan led the Pledge of Allegiance and DrG then played the national anthem on the trumpet. Everyone came on-time with big smiles and wanted to take a picture with DrG who hosted the event dressed in his patriotic “Uncle Sam “ costume.

This was an enjoyable, friendly time to relax after a long day at work, to share among friends, and to join DrG in celebrating our freedoms and our beautiful nation. The theme was Independence Day, and the colors worn by everyone in attendance were a varied blend of Red, White and Blue.

“This was an awesome gathering,” said June Hughes, who regularly attends Dr.G’s CITY TALK meetings, and who spoke to the attendees about Dr.G’s community bougainvillea garden. Another speaker, Linda Hanson, recounted several outings that she and her husband Mel joined-in with DrG for his weekly clean-up program. Eloy Sanchez, Coordinator of the Immaculate Church Dinner Hour ministry reported that DrG not only helps distribute food, but donates to the ministry and helps with administrative affairs. The atmosphere of this event was positive, pleasant, and certainly a wholesome community experience. “We had a great time,” said Sienna Fernandez, who came with her mother Veronica. DrG sponsored Sienna as a candidate for the recent Miss Teen Pageant at Colton High School. They came to support DrG and to learn more about the community.

Shirwin and Denise, the new owners of Pizzadilly Restaurant, were great hosts for the event, and had everything ready at 6:05pm, to allow time for DrG’s prayer, the Pledge and the national anthem. “This event was great for the people to relax and celebrate,” smiled Alex Gago, who is a good friend of DrG and a trustworthy neighbor near the G-house (Dr.G’s home).

The purpose of this gathering is not just to eat pizza and cake, but celebrate our nation’s Independence with DrG among good friends, good food, and good vibes. There is no formal agenda, no business…just a bunch of friends enjoying the time together. “Everything is positive,” said Yaneth Murillo, who brought all three of her children to Dr.G’s birthday celebration. She continued, “They had a great time, love seeing Dr.G, and like to take pictures with him.”

For those who know Dr.G, which are many in the community, know that he maintains close contact with the residents. He is available, is always willing to help as much as possible, and…willing to “roll up his sleeves.”

Congratulations to Dr.G on another successful and positive community event. May he continue to be blessed with good friends, supportive family, and lots of community support. He is truly a willing servant of Jesus for the benefit of our community.
