The Community Services Department will host its first annual Colton Community Games this coming March, and all are welcome to join. The Olympic-style competition between local businesses and organizations, in nine events over three days, will run March 20 through March 22, with the intent to promote teamwork, foster community spirit, encourage company/organizational pride and support health and wellness — all through healthy competition. The event kicks off with an opening ceremony and ends with a closing ceremony. Events will include 3-on-3 basketball, dominoes, scrabble, chalk art, tug-o-war, raft races and more. Activities are scheduled after normal business hours and on weekends. Businesses, churches, service groups or any organization are encouraged to put together a team of at least 10 adults (ages 18 and over) to participate. Registration ends Feb. 19. Team entry fees are $200 per team and include participation in all events. A team captain meeting is scheduled for Feb. 27 at the Frank Gonzales Community Center at 6 p.m. The opening ceremony kicks off March 20 and tournament play extends from March 21 to March 22, with an awards ceremony slated for March 22 at 7 p.m. at the Frank Gonzales Community Center. Download your registration packet online or call the Frank Gonzales Community Center for details at 909-370-6153 or come by the center for a packet at 670 Colton Ave., Colton.
