Today’s schools are to prepare students for tomorrow’s jobs. Districts must be held accountable to provide the education and funding for programs that do just that. I come to you as a proven educator of 41 years; recently retired from California schools. In November 2013 I was appointed to fill a vacancy on the CJUSD School Board. My career has been an asset in fulfilling the responsibilities of a school board member. As a participant in the CJUSD Community Cabinet I encourage strong community input. I was endorsed by the Association of Colton Educators in this election. As a student in public schools I was provided a strong educational foundation that prepared me for success in college. I attended elementary/junior high/ high school in Minnesota before moving to California in 1972. As a California resident I completed an AA degree at Chaffey College, a BA from California State University, Fullerton, and an MA from Azusa Pacific University. I completed teacher preparation and administrative training at California State University, San Bernardino. I’ve held many positions within California’s schools; parent volunteer, PTA, School Site Council, instructional aide, school secretary, groundskeeper, credential analyst, administrative secretary-business services/personnel, teacher, mentor teacher, assistant principal, principal, and school board member (two districts). I know what schools need to do to prepare our kids. I am a strong advocate of the CJUSD Cradle to Career Pathways program and will continue to support opportunities to introduce career choices to our students. As a member of the CJUSD Community Cabinet I am excited about the level of participation/resources and the availability of potential outreach partnerships. I am a respected, honest person, with integrity to do what’s right. I will continue to make good decisions for students and will ensure school funds are wisely spent as we prepare students for our community’s workforce. As a retired/veteran school administrator, mother and grandmother, I can be trusted to support the best programs for Colton students.
