The Louis Robidoux Parkland & Pecan Grove is thrilled to announce its second workshop of the summer, Composting for Everyone!

Would you like to learn how to reduce waste while promoting healthy soils and communities? Join Desert Compost for a free presentation this weekend at the Louis Robidoux Parkland & Pecan Grove. The workshop will be held on Saturday, August 19, from 10 AM to 12 PM at 5370 Riverview Drive in Jurupa Valley.

“There are a million and one reasons to compost!” said Haley Preston, founder and director of Desert Compost. “Beginning composters will immediately see reduced food waste, but in the long run, they will also benefit from improved soil health, lower water needs, and will have access to a growing network of friends and resources in their local composting network.  Communities who compost can help each other to be successful and collectively increase local resilience to the impacts of climate change. I am so excited to help connect the Louis Robidoux Parkland and Pecan Grove community to the process and benefits of composting!”

Workshop participants will have the opportunity to win a composter, visit resource tables hosted by Desert Compost and the Master Gardeners of Riverside County, and tour the property’s garden and nursery. Free food will also be available to the first 50 attendees!

Visitors are welcome to enjoy the Louis Robidoux Parkland & Pecan Grove daily from sunup to sundown, with limited parking available onsite. LRPPG's website and on-site kiosk offer project updates as well as upcoming opportunities for engagement, including the annual Stewardship Festival on October 14.
