At the council meeting last Tuesday night, Council Member Dr.G (Dr. Luis S Gonzalez) appointed Lisa Roo, as a Recreation and Parks Commissioner, which was unanimously confirmed by the council.

Lisa Roo lives in Council District #3, and has been a Colton resident for 6 years. Both Lisa and her husband Alex have known Dr.G through their association with the Ken Hubbs Baseball League, of which they are both members of the Board.

They are an active family in the community, which includes Lisa, Alex, nine children and Lisa’s Father-in-law, James Gago. In most cases, they participate or attend as a family many community events including Concerts in the Park, Movies in the Park, the American Legion events, Grant School festivities, and of course baseball games at the Ken Hubbs field.  In addition, Lisa is part of Dr. G’s CITY TALK group and still finds time to serve on the PTA at her son Noah’s school.

When asked about her desire to serve, Lisa responded, “I’m interested in serving as a commissioner in order to make a positive impact to the community.” If someone were to count the hours she spends in the community, there would be no doubt she has already achieved that goal. Undoubtedly, on the commission she’ll also be able to increase awareness in the city of local sports programs, and the use of city park facilities.

Lisa Roo is ready to take on this responsibility. With her energy, involvement, and excellent communication skills she’ll be an effective commissioner. Her first meeting on the commission will be this month in November and will continue over the next three years during Dr.G’s tenure as a Council Member.  Congratulations to Lisa Roo on her appointment.
