San Bernardino County Animal Care is excited to announce its partnership with the Colton-Redlands-Yucaipa Regional Occupational Program and their Veterinary Assistant Program at Bloomington High School. This collaboration provides valuable hands-on experience for students aspiring to enter the veterinary field while offering essential care to shelter pets in need.

Through this partnership, Animal Care sends shelter pets to the high school’s fully equipped veterinary classroom, where students gain practical experience by performing basic veterinary procedures under supervision. The program mimics a real veterinary office, with students scheduling appointments, conducting examinations, and providing essential care such as deworming, vaccinations, grooming, bathing and nail trimming.

The program prepares students for careers in animal care while also helping shelter pets become more adoptable by ensuring they are healthy, clean and socialized.

The program has already made a positive impact on both students and shelter animals. Students gain confidence in their veterinary skills while shelter pets receive necessary treatments in a supportive learning environment.

This partnership demonstrates the power of community collaboration, benefiting both education and animal welfare. San Bernardino County Animal Care looks forward to seeing this program continue to thrive and help more animals find loving homes.
