COLTON PRIDE! This spring will mark the beginning of The South Colton Diversity Committees' community networking events at The Crossings in Colton. Exhibits, musical performances, sporting events, and much more will be presented thanks to grants, private investors, and sponsors that are assisting in the redevelopment of South Colton.

As a result of the 2017 South Colton Livable Corridor Project, which adopted a “DIY” (Do It Yourself) motto for the area, the South Colton Diversity Committee is adding a layer to the adopted Latino Urbanism project by assisting the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) with a plan to enhance their Racial Equity Early Action Plan by focusing on inclusion and diversity for the entire community of South Colton.

Focusing on future projects that are coming to the city and exclusively utilizing local business suppliers, the Market Nights at The Crossings will inform and inspire community participation in order to set local hire and minority-owned business goals for all major projects coming to South Colton including the recently funded Sports Complex and Electronic Vehicle Charging Stations.

Several local sponsors are anticipating much-needed growth and creativity stemming from the Market Nights and the unity they will create throughout the city. Dates will be posted on The Colton Chamber of Commerce's Facebook page and other social media outlets with the first event taking place on Cinco De Mayo, May 5, 2023, at 7 PM at 165 E. O St., Colton, CA 92324.

Photo Caption: Crime in San Bernardino has dropped by 30 percent or more throughout the city. One reason is that there are more officers on the streets. The Police Department’s goal is to have 350 sworn officers. Current full-time staffing is reported at 295 sworn officers and 156 professional staff.
