The city of Colton honored their veterans with an opening prayer ceremony at 8 AM Saturday, November 10, 2018. This event took place at Pete S. Luque Community Center. Followed by a beautifully organized Veterans Day parade at 9:30 which it traveled down La Cadena Drive and proceeded to Fleming Park.

At 10:30 all veterans and their guests were greeted and welcomed by MC and City Council member, Luis Gonzalez also known as "Dr. G." He introduced guest speaker Assemblymember Eloise Gomez-Reyes who was born and raised in Colton.

Following her presentation each veteran had put his name and military service on a card and were called by name to the platform to receive an award on display. They were commended for their services by city officials.

At 11:30 veterans and their guests were treated to refreshments by Colton Women’s Club. There were plenty of military memorabilia that was on display for everyone to see. There were event WW2 Veterans on sight taking photos and giving out autographs.

VFW had opened their post 6476 at 1789 N. 8th St. I was made even prouder to have service my country from 1952 as a US the US Army during the Korean conflict.
