At the council meeting Tuesday night, Council Member Dr. G (Dr. Luis S Gonzalez) appointed Mr. Andrew Perez as Utilities Commissioner and was unanimously confirmed by the council.

Mr. Andrew has lived in the city of Colton for sixteen years, first living near Colton High School for many years and now most recently as a homeowner with his family in La Loma Hills.

Currently, he is a construction technician with the Southern California Gas Company. He also has served two years as Director of Coaches for the Colton Youth Soccer Organization.

As a commissioner, Andrew will be required to attend and participate in Utilities Commission meetings once a month. Days before each meeting he will be given an agenda packet providing him with the information needed to prepare, deliberate, and vote on recommendations to the City Council.

When asked about his interest in serving, Andrew responded, “I would like to help make a difference in the city.” Dr. G added, “We are certainly glad he decided to step up and serve. He’ll be a very good commissioner.” His first meeting will be in December and his appointment will continue until November 2022. Congratulations to Mr. Andrew Perez on his appointment.
