Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) and the City of Colton recently brought together hospital leadership, City of Colton officials and San Bernardino County representatives for the “State of the City of Colton and ARMC” event. Taking place at the Medical Center, key speakers were City of Colton Mayor Frank J. Navarro and Hospital Director, William Gilbert.

Mayor Navarro shared insight into Colton’s growth noting the addition of many new and expanding businesses in retail, industrial and residential sectors. Those investing in Colton include national, regional and local businesses, and now the California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) with ARMC being its primary teaching hospital. Special attention was given to ARMC’s role as a key partner and top employer in the region with nearly 4,000 employees.

Mayor Navarro highlighted the milestones achieved in the past year and discussed the future vision for Colton as a “Hub City Center,” with ARMC being an anchor of the local economy. Providing high-quality comprehensive care, ARMC is notably a level two Trauma Center, with a renowned Burn Center, and a Primary Stroke Center. ARMC will continue its growth alongside the City of Colton with plans for a new cardiovascular service line, an oncology center, and the rising campus of CUSM.

“It has been an honor to serve this hospital and our diverse community, while being a part of the phenomenal growth taking place over the past few years,” said Hospital Director, William Gilbert. “We look forward to further enhancing our relationship with the City of Colton with continued collaboration to identify and respond to ongoing changes and growth needs.”

Mayor Navarro’s presentation also addressed the need for green standards, noting recent efforts to include the addition of electric vehicle charging stations at various locations throughout Colton, including eight at ARMC. Future plans for Colton also include an exciting new sports complex to bring the community together and invite visitors to the city for sporting events.
