Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) celebrated National Doctors’ Day by showing appreciation for its physicians with a special breakfast and coffee delivery. While National Doctors’ Day officially falls on March 30, ARMC’s senior leadership team, medical office staff, and Graduate Medical Education staff joined together on March 28 to recognize the roughly 400 attending physicians and 150 resident physicians at the hospital.
An exclusive breakfast, created by Chef Joe Eidem was held in the hospital’s Skylight Café. For those physicians unable to attend the breakfast, the teams also made afternoon coffee delivery to physicians throughout the medical center. In addition, physicians also received a 2018 commemorative mug.
“Doctors' Day serves as a day to recognize the contributions of not only our physicians, but all physicians, serving their communities, and making an impact while helping individuals every single day,” said William Gilbert, Hospital Director. “Their knowledge is a vital part of a healthy community, and we commend our physicians for their commitment and dedication they demonstrate year round.”
In 1990, President George Bush signed into law a Joint Resolution of Congress establishing March 30 as National Doctors’ Day, setting aside a special day to express gratitude to physicians for their compassion in ministering to the sick, promoting good health and the advancement of medical knowledge. The date chosen was the anniversary of the first use of general anesthesia in surgery on March 30, 1842.
