The Colton Joint Unified School District has recognized Best Best & Krieger LLP as its Education Partner for the month of October. In a ceremony at the District’s headquarters last Thursday night, the firm was honored for its Operation Backpack program, through which every student at Mary B. Lewis Elementary School was donated a backpack filled with school supplies on the first day of the school year.

“I would like to recognize the law firm’s compassion and dedication to our school,” Principal Cathy Cervantes said. “Their employees and their families worked tirelessly throughout the summer with purchasing backpacks and supplies as well as packing each and every one of the 750 backpacks that were set to be gifted to our students.”

For a decade, BB&K has participated in Operation Backpack. Through donations from the firm’s attorneys, staff and vendors, the firm has helped more than 5,000 California families by giving away the backpacks and supplies.

“This special community outreach to our school meant that many of our families did not have to worry about having to buy backpacks and school supplies to start the new school year,” Cervantes said.  “This gift of backpack donations is such a blessing for Mary B. Lewis Elementary. This caring act has made such an impact for many of our students and families as the new school year began.”
