It was the moment everyone was waiting for! For the last nine months, members of the community searched our website, found their favorite local business, and entered into the CLICK and WIN sweepstakes, hoping they would be the lucky winner for our $1,000 grand prize.

Viewers tuned in as City News Group went live on Facebook to announce who their lucky winner would be and they were in for a treat as multiples prizes were given away during the live event! It was a great time for all as we experienced so much positivity and support from everyone, shared some fun laughs, and really got to experience just how much our community can pull together.

With so many prizes given away, the excitement level was high and everyone was ready to see if they were our lucky winner for the $1,000 grand prize. The thumbs and hearts were going off like fireworks as City News Group pushed that winner button! The $1,000 grand prize had been won by, Leticia Salas!

“I was so surprised to get the phone call, it was just wow!” Salas said.

Colton local, Salas is a Bilingual Attendance Assistant for Positive Youth Development for the San Bernardino City Unified School District. Salas works with about 14 schools within the San Bernardino City District. Part of her duties is to make home visits to families that may have some language barriers. Often, she says, she visits homes that have parents who speak Spanish and are unable to communicate properly with their child’s teachers. This is where Salas steps in to become the bridge that connects the parents and children to the teacher and the school.

Salas plans on sharing her grand prize money with the many families she is in contact with.

“It’s not just going to benefit my family, but there are a few others that it’s going to benefit,” Salas said. “They don’t know it yet. We’re all going to decide where it’s going because there are other people that could use a little bit so we’re going to share it, it’s not just mine. That’s not the way you do it.”

While Salas was not able to watch the LIVE event, her daughter, Isabel Salas, was in attendance and expressed a great amount of excitement for her mother.

City News Group started this Click and Win Sweepstakes in March when the COVID pandemic began to shut down local businesses everywhere. We wanted to help the local businesses stay in business and we wanted to help a family have a nice Christmas! So, we got our heads together and came up with this program for the community.

We thought it was bad in the beginning. But we are seeing now that it is even harder. Many families and businesses are struggling during this pandemic. So we need to pull together even more and stay together during these rough times.

Be sure to support the local advertisers that are supporting you. Like Woody’s Classic Grill, Domino’s Pizza, Grocery Outlet, Hannah’s Restaurant, and many more that continue to stay open for you!

Our grand prize winner, Salas enjoyed searching for all of our local business on the City News Group website and was thankful that because of them, she was able to win $1,000.

“This program is awesome because it rewards not only the people coming to the website; it rewards the businesses," Mike Miller, Woody’s Classic Grill owner said. “It’s a win-win situation for everybody.”

“We are thrilled and excited to have this opportunity to provide gift cards that will be given to local residents as part of City News’ promotion,” said Eric and Priscilla Santillan, Grand Terrace Grocery Outlet Operators.

We can see that so many of you enjoyed it and are supporting us and supporting your local businesses through this program. We love it and we thank you! We are so grateful to our advertisers like, Alice’s Restaurant, New 2 You, The Sub Station, and The Grooming Machine, and we are so appreciative to those of you who have gone online and looked at our website checked out the ads, and entered.

It is because of businesses like Vicky’s Restaurant, Family Homestyle Café, Uncle Tony’s Custom Cycles, and Safeway Recycle and their support and the tremendous support that members of our communities have shown to us and them that this program was such a success.

Due to the program being such a success from the support of the local businesses such as Adame's Roofing Repair, Medina's Perfume and Gift Shop,  Sushi Miguels Style, and Todd Peters Electrical Contracting, and all of the community members, City News Group has decided to continue the Click and Win Sweepstakes in 2021!

Starting in the New Year your chances at $1,000 just got bigger because we will be giving away $1,000 EVERY MONTH! So you will want to continue to come back to www.citynewsgroup.com and KEEP ON ENTERING! Because you could win $1,000 in January, February, March, and each month for all of 2021!

This announcement was made during the live broadcast and it thrilled many of the people that were watching! One of the viewers, Jordan Jaime commented during the broadcast, “This brings joy to these hard times,” and “We appreciate all of this!!” Another viewer, Kristina Heredia expressing her excitement at the news, “That’s so amazing!”
