Now celebrating its 28th year as a local organization, the Colton Area Museum Association is announcing its annual membership drive set for the month of October. Community residents and visitors alike are invited to stop in to the Colton Area Museum (CAM) during regular open hours, to support the museum, by joining Association membership. While visiting, everyone is encouraged to see the traditional displays of Colton’s historical past, and contemplate the stories of people, places and events that mark our continued legacy as a vibrant community.

“Our history is important,” says President Mike Murphy, “and people in the community can participate by joining the Association.”

Museum membership “not only supports our programs,” says Vice-President Christina Perris, “but provides an opportunity for people to take part in the continued growth of our museum.” Annual memberships are $20/yr for individuals, $50/yr for business sponsorship, and $7.00/yr for students. Lifetime memberships are also available for $350.00.

Membership includes Colton Area Museum electronic newsletter “Crossroads,” invitations to CAM events and Guest Speaker programs, and name recognition on all programs. Business sponsorship includes business card-sized advertisements.

The Colton Area Museum is dedicated to promoting public awareness of Colton area history by collecting and displaying historical artifacts, as well as preserving the city’s rich heritage. In carrying out its mission, the CAM strives to perpetuate the memory of our hometown heroes, historic events, and our unique beginnings, including our EARP-TRAINTOWN connection.

The Colton Area Museum also offers an interesting slate of guest speakers throughout the year, to which all members will receive an invitation. The speakers represent a wide variety of perspectives and experiences that are not only informative, but inspirational for those who want to know more about Colton’s History – past, present, and future.

The Colton Area Museum address is 380 N. La Cadena Dr in Colton. Regular open hours are Wednesdays and Fridays from 1:00pm-4:00pm, and on Saturdays 11:00am-2:00pm.

For more information about the museum, membership, and it programs, contact the museum at 824-8814, or CAM Board Member Dr. G at 213-3730
