Colton Homicide

At approximately 8:08 AM on 2/20/2018 officers responded to the 2200 block of Reche Canyon RD., Colton in reference to an unknown subject inside of a homeowners vehicle. When officers arrived they found a male adult inside of the vehicle with an unknown type of traumatic injury. Colton Fire Department responded and pronounced the subject deceased. Colton Police Department Detective Division is investigating the death as suspicious. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Scientific Investigations Division is assisting with the investigation. 

During the investigation it was discovered that the victim was shot multiple times while he was inside of the vehicle. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Johnathan Navarez, 20 years of age, resident of the City of Lynwood, CA. The case is now being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing. The investigation is ongoing at this time. More information will be released as it becomes available.
