Dr. G is Named "Lay Minister"

Last Sunday, the Board of Directors of the Faithway Fellowship Church of the Nazarene presented Dr. G, Council Member and well-known Historian and Community Advocate, with the certificated authority to serve as a “Lay Minister” for this calendar year.

Faithway Fellowship, located at 292 East E Street in Colton, has been in a growing mode since the current Pastor, Ronnie Steen, started serving in November 2021. After diligently working to establish a new service format, a building improvement program, and new community outreach programs, Pastor Steen has marked this year as a period of building the membership.

Previously, Dr. G was presented a membership to Faithway Fellowship and, according to Pastor Steen, Dr. G was the first new member of the church since he started his pastorate. In addition, this week the church celebrated the acceptance of two more individuals as new members, thus adding to the congregation and helping to fulfill our goal of increasing membership.

With this certification, Dr. G will have the opportunity to preach, teach, and/or lead bible study when called upon by Pastor Ronnie. “The opportunities will come as the Lord leads,” says Pastor Ronnie, who added, “Dr. G has already presented two bible lessons for Faithway Fellowship and had a very successful tenure of preaching, teaching, and leading worship at his Spanish language church 'Rayos de Luz.'"

“My goal is to serve both churches as time and opportunity allows, and when called upon, to preach and teach about Jesus Christ,” commented Dr. G. Both the membership and certification for service at Faithway Fellowship were presented this month, and Dr. G has wasted no time putting in place a few topics for future sermons and bible lessons.

For those who know Dr. G, which are many in the community, they know that he also maintains a personal “church” online on his CITY TALK Facebook (DrG-) page.  On Sunday mornings at 9:00 am, Dr. G presents his “Walk Through the Bible” series covering each of the bible’s 66 books, one each week. During the week, Dr. G presents his “Straight Talk about Jesus” series which focuses on topics associated with the life of Jesus Christ. "Any and all topics about Jesus are presented on Wednesday nights at 8:00 pm,” explains Dr. G.

Congratulations to Dr. G for the new certification as a “Lay Minster” at Faithway Fellowship. May his service to the church and to the entire community continue to be a blessing to all those with whom he comes into contact.
