A brush fire ignited near the intersection of Kansas and Scenic Drive in Colton around 9:30 PM Tuesday, June 23. Residents stated fireworks were going off everywhere and one gentleman spoke on camera to say he saw the firework land in the brush and start the fire, according to Brandy, AKA FirePhotoGirl on Facebook. The fire was estimated at about 1 acre no injuries reported at the time, according to Colton Fire.

Colton Fire shared another post of the fire, which included photos of the fire taken by Omar Fernandez, a local resident. It took six engines and a Battalion Chief to protect the surrounding structures and extinguish the fire, according to Colton Fire. Mutual Aid was provided by Loma Linda and San Bernardino County Fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be illegal fireworks.
