Ruben John Rivas was born in Anaheim, California on May 12, 1953 to Ruben Rivas and Elodia Ramirez. The Lord came for our beloved hero on December 5, 2019 after a 4-year fight with cancer in which he showed immense strength and faith. Ruben graduated early from Ganesha High School in 1971 and joined the United States Army in May of that year. He served for 8 years in the United States Army as an engineer.

After his service, he resided with his family in Colton, California. Ruben held a career in the industry of industrial coatings for over 25 years. Ruben is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Cathy Rivas and their 4 children, Angela (Reuben Shaw), Monica (Travis Joslin), Ruben Jr., and Elodia (Adam Campos), as well as his sisters, Geraldine Sierra (Charlie) and Cathy Frame (Larry), his step-siblings, Ricky, Robyn, Tommy, Kathy, and Patricia Gonzales, and many loving nieces and nephews. He is the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren, Selina, Nicole, Elyssa, Travis, Layla, Alaia, Ruben, Emily, Ava, and Ray.

He was preceded in death by his father Ruben Rivas, his brother Ralph Rivas, his sister Theresa Taylor, his step-father Heraclio Gonzales and his mother Elodia Gonzales. He was known for his dedicated relationship with the Lord, his devotion to his family whom he loved very much, and his patriotism for his country.

He will be dearly missed and will hold a special place in our hearts forevermore.
