The city of Grand Terrace recently had its grand opening of the long-awaited dog park. It consists of two sections for everyone’s favorite loved ones. One space for our larger furry friends and another for our smaller ones.
The dog park committee held fundraisers and special events in order to raise the money that was needed to create this special place that will provide space where the pets from around the city can frolic and socialize. The grand opening invited everyone from the city and surrounding communities. There were city officials as well as the current and former Mayors of Grand Terrace.
Unfortunately, just a few weeks after its much anticipated opening, the City was forced to close the park temporarily. A water valve had been tampered with which resulted in damage to the new lawn. The valve is now fixed, and the park is once again a safe and enjoyable environment for the pets.
Many citizens were confused as to why the park suddenly looked empty and no dogs were running about. Soon after, the City of Grand Terrace posted an official 'closed' notice on their social media to notify the residents of the city. Some residents resorted to taking their four-legged friends to dog parks in surrounding local communities such as Redlands.
However, after a week’s wait the dog park has officially reopened its gates as of Monday May 7th and is welcoming furry loved ones back in. The damage has been taken care of and the environment is once again enjoyable for local dog owners as well as those of surrounding communities as the park welcomes everyone.
The residents can now enjoy the park from 7 am until dusk every day except on Wednesdays when the park is closed for maintenance. So, if you have not already done so, take your furry friend and head over to the dog park to enjoy some quality time and to watch them play peacefully with each other.
