The Collingsworth Family, a nationally acclaimed gospel music ensemble, will be featured in a rare Inland Southern California concert on Saturday, August 21.  Their appearance is sponsored  by the Loma Linda University Seventh-day Adventist Church as part of its annual summer  “camp meeting” celebration for the community, beginning at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30.

Reserved-seat tickets for the concert are on sale now from the concert’s online ticket agency, www.iTickets.com, or by calling iTickets at (800) 965-9324.  Ticket prices range from  $10 to $50, and major credit cards are accepted.

“We’re especially blessed to have The Collingsworth Family join us this year for the  Camp Meeting event,” comments Randy Roberts, the church’s senior pastor.  “The concert’s musical talent and spiritual emphasis will minister to the souls and bring encouragement to the hearts of all who attend.”

Parents Phil and Kim Collingsworth began their rise in contemporary gospel music performance as a duo in the mid-1980s before evolving into a family vocal and instrument group.  Performing and recording with their parents in recent years have been all four Collingsworth children, now young adults and accomplished musicians in their own right.

Daughters Brooklyn and Courtney (violins and vocals), Olivia (vocals), and son Philip (vocals) are integral to the family ensemble on its current concert tour.  Father Phil is featured in vocals and on trumpet, and mother Kim (vocals) is an award-winning pianist and arranger who accompanies both vocal and instrumental pieces. The musical Collingsworths have released a string of successful praise and worship albums and video recordings in recent years, including two in the Billboard Christian Albums Top Ten chart and 25 in Billboard’s Top Forty listing.

Repeated Gospel Music Association “Dove” awards have also recognized the family’s recordings, as has a Grammy Award nomination.

The August 21 event is at the University Church, 11125 Campus St., Loma Linda.  Free parking for concertgoers is provided in the parking structure directly across Campus Street from the church.
