“It feels so great to win something, especially during a time that seems so uncertain and hard for so many families and individuals,” said this week’s sweepstakes winner, TaVae Patterson.
“I’m grateful to be a winner in such a great community.”
TaVae Patterson is this week’s winner of the City News Group, Inc. $1,000 sweepstakes opportunity drawing. As this week’s prize winner, Heredia has won a delightful dinner for two from local favorite, Woody’s Classic Grill.
Patterson earned this awesome deal by submitting an online entry form on the City News Group website. Although he is one of this week’s winners, he still has the opportunity to win the $1,000 on December 3rd.
“I saw the signs across the area and wanted to participate,” Patterson said. “I would love to win the $1,000 to put toward my upcoming wedding in 2021.”
Prior to the pandemic, Patterson worked as a general manager for a trampoline park in Orange County. Due to state-wide shut downs, his employer had to close, leaving Patterson to search for new employment and has recently found a job in construction.
“2020 has been a stressful year and the unknown of the future has been tough for everyone,” Patterson said. “My fiancée and I are planning our wedding for September, 2021 and hope that by that time, we will be in the clear to have the celebration we dream of.”
Patterson can continue his good fortune when he receives a free dinner for two from Woody’s Classic Grill in Grand Terrace.
From the restaurant’s inception, Mike Miller, the owner, emphasized that “we build our business one guest at a time” and in return it creates a strong foundation for their business. “If we can get one guest to come in and they love our food, our service, like the value of our food, then they’ll go out and tell people.”
Woody’s can be compared to a modern day Cheers, because any guest that goes to Woody’s will be greeted with a smile and fully enjoy the friendliness of the employees and eventually everyone will know your name.
Patterson won a free dinner for two from Woody’s by finding a Woody’s ad on the City News Group’s website with a Bag of Money icon, clicking on it, and submitting an entry to win with no purchase necessary. Patterson still has an opportunity to win the grand prize of $1,000 on December 3, 2020.

A community should support each other and we hope this is a way to bring everyone together again.
